Howdy folks!

Long time no talk eh? I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and staying cool. It is hot as can be here in Nashville (we're expecting 2+ weeks of over 90 degree heat with no rain), but now that it is August, the downslide towards my favorite time of the year of fall has begun. It can't get here soon enough!

I just wanted to take a moment and point out a few shows in Nevada that Lee Ann is doing coming up here. First up, there's a show tomorrow in Mesquite, Nevada at the CasaBlanca Casino and Resort. Mesquite is about 90 miles north of Las Vegas so if you are in the area, be sure and pop on by.

Speaking of Las Vegas, LAW will be doing an entire weekend of shows there at the Orleans Casino September 7-9. If you've always wanted to travel to Las Vegas, this would be the perfect time to do so! Ticket information can be found on the main MySpace page or over at LeeAnnWomack.com. And remember, fan club members can go backstage at any of Lee Ann's shows to meet Lee Ann and have a photo taken with her. There's still plenty of time to join the fan club if you are planning on going to any of the Las Vegas shows. Just email me and I'll shoot you the details.

Finally, our thoughts and prayers go out to those in Minnesota affected by the bridge collapse. Our hearts are with you.

Cheerios Helping Hearts

Lee Ann is the spokeswoman for the Cheerios Helping Hearts campaign running through the month of February. LAW is gracing the back of every Cheerios box in the country, with information on woman's heart health and how you can help the cause. Every time you enter the promotion code from any participating box of Cheerios cereal, Cheerios will donate $1 to WomenHeart, supporting women living with heart disease. Next time you are in the grocery store, look for the red dress on the front of Cheerios boxes and help us fight women's heart disease.

Lee Ann is up in the first round of voting in the Female Video Of the Year category for "Finding My Way Back Home". Click here to vote for Lee Ann in the first round! The final four nominees in each category will be announced Feb. 28.

Endless Highway: The Music of The Band featuring Lee Ann and others as a tribute to The Band was released on Tuesday. Lee Ann tackles one of The Band's most poputlar hits, "The Weight". Joining Lee Ann on the song are Buddy and Julie Miller singing background vocals. The album also features Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Gomez, and Roseanne Cash, among others. Pick up a copy at your local record store today.

Those of you in the San Antonio area can catch Lee Ann at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on February 16. She'll be performing in the round with Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue and Randy Rogers. Should be a great show!

Happy new year to everyone! I've been on what a friend of mine dubbed the "Alison Groves Farewell To 2006" tour around the country that saw me spending time in east Texas, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. But now I'm back in my office ready to rock what should be an awesome 2007!

I think the biggest story of '07 is going to be Lee Ann's new album. The last I heard, the album was slated for an "early '07" release, and I'm hoping that means sometime in February. I know you guys are anxiously awaiting for news, so as soon as I hear, you'll be the first to know.

I should have a few dates to let you guys know about soon too, but while you wait, check out the latest new music from Lee Ann, as she is featured on a tribute record for The Band doing their infamous hit The Weight. You can stream the song, and the rest of the album (be sure to check out the Death Cab For Cutie track, a LAW camp favorite) on the album's website. The album also has a MySpace profile if you'd like to add Lee Ann's version of The Weight to your MySpace profile. I think you'll love the song.

I've got quite a hefty amount of emails to sift though, so that's what I'll be doing this afternoon. Would love to hear from you guys and hear how your holidays were. I'm sure they were good!

All Apologies

I want to send a big round of apologies to all fan club members who have been patiently waiting for new membership packets as well as renewal packets. I have spent the entire month of November working on things for the Texas tour and am just now able to properly sit down and do some fan club things. I plan on spending the rest of the week getting out pacakges (until I run out of autographed photos) as well as doing a holiday newsletter, which I will be doing this afternoon.

I also owe some folks emails which I hope to get to today as well. So much going on, so little of me!

The countdown is on for Christmas! (For those Mac users out there, this is a fun little app to keep you reminded of the impending holiday) Does anyone have any big holiday plans? I am taking my first proper vacation in a year and spending 2 weeks in Houston, Vegas and Los Angeles.

This blog post is long overdue. LONG! I apologize for my absence around these parts, but I have been slammin' and jammin' on the upcoming tour and decided to take a break from my last bit of work before the holiday to come by here and update everyone. Some crafty soul hacked into our second Texas tour MySpace profile and took that over, so I just decided to have Lee Ann's main MySpace profile be your one stop shop for all things Texas tour. It is sneaking up on us....I hope all of you in the area have your tickets already and are ready for an amazing night of music that you won't soon forget!

I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday. My friends and I have started a great tradition here in Nashville by "running" (or as I like to call it, leisurely strolling) the Boulevard Bolt, which is a 5 mile race to benefit the homeless. It is a great way to start the day and prepare for the feast that comes later. I hope your family traditions are as fun as mine, and wish all of you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Howdy folks!

August has FLOWN by. F L O W N. I'm sure by now you've all read that we had a huge surprise birthday party for Lee Ann last week in Luckenbach, Texas. Our gal Melissa lived to tell the tale over at LAW.com. I don't think I've ever worked so hard to keep a secret in my life. Good thing I didn't see Lee Ann too much in the past six weeks or so, because the one day I did see her (the day before I took off down to Texas to deal with the party) I almost spilled the beans a good 3 or 4 times. We pulled out all the stops to keep it a secret...all working behind closed doors nights and weekends, making sure EVERYTHING party related was marked with "top secret!", having to talk in code on the phone so LAW didn't catch on, throwing a fake party to throw her off the scent, even faking a "family emergency" down in Texas (thankfully 1. I'm from Houston and 2. my grandma is A-OK).

I really don't think I've been more nervous about anything in my life. There were a lot of people putting a lot of effort into making it down for the party, so everything needed to go off without a hitch and everyone needed to be 100% taken care of. I was the first to arrive in town, to make sure that our hotel was all sorted out, that all of our supplies arrived on time, and that plans in general were working out. Not to mention that I was in the process of making a video that was to be the center point of the party...enough to give a girl and ulcer! The day of the party though, everything came together flawlessly through a huge amount of teamwork (everyone in our camp worked VERY hard to pull it off) and Lee Ann entered the dancehall with a priceless look of shock on her face (be sure to check the KAJA website linked above for the exact moment she realizes it is her birthday party and not a listener appreciation party). I'm so proud of everyone involved, and amazingly honored to be a part of such a huge milestone in Lee Ann's life. The party itself was a total blast, and how much do I love Mark Chesnutt?! He sang Too Cold At Home not once, but twice. The feather boas came out, and the party rocked until the wee hours of the morning.

Enough party talk, for we have big things underway...like a new single! Finding My Way Back Home is at a radio station near you and at iTunes. Have you heard it on your local radio station? We want to know!

I woke up about 4am this morning with the first line of the chorus to LAW's new single, Finding My Way Back Home, running through my head. "I've been takin' my tiiiiiiiiimeeeeee!" Over and over again. Now THAT'S a catchy song, when you wake up in the middle of the night with it running through your head. It's just that good.

Some of you might already be hearing it on your local radio station....I have it on good authority that a few stations are already playing it. If you hear it on your local station, be sure to call them up and request it. If you haven't heard it yet, hold on tight, we'll have official add date info for you very soon.

It's been a CRAZY month around my place. Tying up loose ends from the fan club party, sorting out the TON of donations I got from all of you guys, going through AnySoldier.com and selecting soldiers, putting the care packages together (we ended up with 30 packages), getting them shipped out, making a few hundred fan club packets, working on the new album, trying to keep my InBox from spilling over 100 emails at a time, and doing 100 other odd and end things. Somewhere in there I got a new computer (don't drop you laptop kiddies....they don't like to charge after you do so...) and had to go through getting everything off the old one and putting it on this one. Which in theory sounds easy but is a big pain in the arse.

So that's what's been going on here. What about you? I know LAW has been playing a bunch of shows lately (and is going on a big west coast run next week). Hit up the comments and let us know what you've been up to, and if you've seen the LAW recently.

I know I've said it several times, but I just want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who brought care package donations to the fan club party. I finally got to sort through it all this afternoon and it is quite impressive! (see photo) I think when Courtney and Lee Ann return from their trip overseas to play for the troops, we're going to gather in our office and assemble them all. It might take us an entire day to get them all together since you guys gave us so much! Your generocity was over the top, and was much appreciated.

Does anyone else have World Cup fever? I'm loving it. Doesn't look like the American team is going to fair too well, but England is my 2nd favorite team. I love me some David Beckham and Michael Owen.

What a week. And I see it has been over a month since I last blogged. In that period I spent over three weeks in Texas and then furiously finished planning the fan club party. Thanks to all of you who came out to the party! The feedback on it was once again, amazing. Even Lee Ann emailed me later that evening to express her thanks and to tell me that a ton of you had been raving about the Belcourt and the party itself. That means so much to me, you have no idea. I spent last week so furiously wrapped up in the event, that I never stopped to take a breath and relax. But the party turned out exactly how I wanted it to....a laid back, casual affair where old friends meet to hang out, new friends meet for the first time and everyone is brought together by their love of the LAW. Hopefully I'll get some photos of the party up soon. I was going to toss one up here today, but they are on my other computer which is, of course, at home. If you have any that you took that you would like to share, please pass them along to me.

Somewhere along the way, between shaking 100 hands on Thursday and running 100 MPH, I caught a cold over the weekend! Who's ever heard of a summer cold? My mom just laughed at me when I said that, saying that summer colds are the worst. And she's right. I'm feeling about 80% today, but it is so dang hot that it just makes you feel more miserable. I bet swallowing a mouthful of water from the Ocoee River on Saturday didn't help either. I think I was a smart ass just one too many times to the guide and he proceeded to dump me face first over the side of the boat right as we hit the rapid Tablesaw. Here's a lesson kids...keeping your mouth closed, both in the boat and in the river is probably a good idea.

2006 Fan Club Party!

Help us send Lee Ann overseas in style! She leaves June 10 for a tour of Germany and Italy to entertain the troops stationed there, and she invites you to attend her bon voyage party. As I mentioned in my letter, this year's fan club party will once again be held at the historic Belcourt Theater in the Hillsboro Village section of Nashville on June 8 at 10am.

To make sure that everyone has ample time with Lee Ann, I'm going to open the doors at 9:50am so that we may get started promptly at 10am to make sure you can maximize your time. One thing we are adding this year is song requests from you guys. This has been asked for many times in the past, and Lee Ann has agreed to do it. So, submit your song request on the ticket form below and I'll sit down with Lee Ann to pick out 5 songs for her to do along with her hits. This is your chance to hear some of your favorite album cuts live and acoustic!

Also, as mentioned elsewhere in the newsletter, we will be accepting donations and assembling care packages for soldiers stationed overseas. We hope to get the care packages made up on the spot and shipped out later in the day, so anything you bring with you to send overseas will be much appreciated.

Would you like to be featured in the movie to be shown at the party? If so, email or mail me shots of you with Lee Ann, with other fans, or at a show and I'll add you in!

If you would like to attend this year's fan club party, please send in a check or money order payable to LAWFC. $15 for members, $20 for non members. Also, be sure to include a self addressed stamped envelope so that I may include directions to the party and your ticket confirmation. Also, please feel free to bring something for the soldier care packages! Remember, you need to be a member, or a guest of a member to attend. There will be general movie going fare....popcorn, candy, soda as well as a movie for your enjoyment. After we do a Q&A and acoustic session with Lee Ann, we'll move out into the lobby for a meet and greet. All that attend the party are welcome to meet with Lee Ann. It should be a great time for everyone, so we hope you can all make it out!

-The New York Post named Lee Ann’s recenty New York City shows at Cipriani’s and the Bowery Ballroom as one of the top 10 concerts in the city for 2005. In the second most amazing hipster meets country shocker of the year (the first being Lee Ann's apperance on The Colbert Report), Stylus Magazine has named Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago to it's top 50 singles of the year. In all genres. Oh, and it was the only country song. Other songs of note include....Spoon's I Turn My Camera On, Imogen Heap's Hide And Seek (the song playing for Caleb Nichol's funeral for those OC fans out there), Bloc Party's So Here We Are, Kayne West's Gold Digger, Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl (the same one that LAW used to come on stage to), The Killer's Mr. Brightside, and OF COURSE the #1 song, Kelly Clarkson's Since You Been Gone. Quite an amazing list for our little LAW to be tossed into. My favorite though? Page down and check out the individual lists, including this little gem...

Just a heads up for those of you who didn't know, there is a MySpace page for Lee Ann. The label started it and now I'm helping them keep it a little more up to date. We just recently added two songs to the player, so if you guys want to add either one to your profile, please do! To do so, just visit Lee Ann's MySpace page and once the songs load to the left, click "Add". The song will automatically be added to your MySpace profile, and anytime someone comes to your page, they'll hear the song you've chosen. Just another cool way to help spread music you love!

Can you believe it is almost December? What a crazy and fun year it has been. I hope all of you had an awesome Thanksgiving. I spent the extended weekend in Nashville doing a charity run, eating way too much and taking care of the newest editions to the Womack family.

Back to the grindstone now as we concentrate on the new single, Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago. Are you calling your local radio station to request the song? How about voting on radio websites? Or voting for the new video on GAC.com? Lots to do people, so chop chop!

The nice folks over at my favorite frivilous magazine (although their Must List is, well, a must) named the iTunes Originals version of She's Got You a must download of the week. Nice!

Oh My Gosh, I'm the Winner!

I've been trying to get over here all day to post, but it has been one of those days where I just now looked up at the clock and it is 4:30. Yesterday might have been one of the more crazy evenings of my life. First, there was the storms and impending not one, but 2 tornado sirens. I've yet to hear a tornado siren in my life and last night I got to hear it twice in an hour. Then there was seeing Aubrie on the red carpet being interviewed by Joan Rivers. More storm dodging ensued. Then there was settin the TiVo to record the awards on CBS, having the start of the broadcast move to Nashville's cable CBS station, then back to basic CBS. I bet I have the most chopped up recording in TiVo history of the same show. But, wow! What a payoff! 3 wins....and Album Of the Year at that. To me, that is the biggie. Because at the end of the day, we're all here for the music right?

I've had several reports that Lee Ann got a mention on The Colbert Report. I'm trying to find out for myself and I'll report back. I'm pretty fired up about that, being such a huge fan of The Daily Show.

There's about 100 (no lie!) articles about LAW that have popped up in the past few days. When I can get through them all, I'll post the best ones. For now, I've got to get caught up. Enjoy the victory everyone!

Tonight's the Night

So, tonight is the big night. I was going to post a ton of links of press that LAW has been in but Mother Nature has intervined and I have to cut this short. We're staring down the barrel of one of the biggest storm fronts since the 70's! I didn't believe it either when I read that earlier today, but the storm has already dropped 3 tornadoes in the area in the past hour, so I need to get things prepared around the house. If I'm able to, I'll try to live blog the awards tonight. Fingers crossed everyone!

Let's Go Crazy

Man, oh man. Things are CRAZY around Camp LAW. Lee Ann has been in NYC for a few days doing all kinds of press and shows leading up to tomorrow's CMA's. Saturday night was the "Broadway Meets Country" show at the famous Lincoln Center. Lee Ann co-hosted the show with Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell. For those of you who couldn't make it to the show, XM Satellite Radio's On Broadway channel will broadcast the concert next week at various times starting at 12 p.m./9 a.m. ET/PT, Nov. 24. For further times, keep an eye on XM Radio's website, as well as LAW.com.

Last night was a busy one for the LAW as she attended the Walk the Line premiere at the Beacon Theater (beautiful place!) on the Upper West Side. It was quite the star studded affair....good LAW friends Shooter Jennings and Waylon Payne (very good looking guy in the 20 Years video!) were there as well as Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes, everyone's favorite Gilmore Girl Lauren Graham, Jane Seymour, Luke Wilson, and many others. From that, Lee Ann hopped in a cab and raced to the Lower East Side to the Rodeo Bar to host The Front Porch show for 99.5 The Wolf. Did anyone listen online? It was a great show, and they even gave away Lee Ann's personal iPod to the 99th caller. The contest was open to everyone in the country listening, but it just so happened that someone inside the bar was the 99th caller. Crazy! Congrats to Emily of New Jersey for winning the iPod.

Tonight is the LAW/Shooter show at the Bowery Ballroom. I'm totally jealous of whoever is going to be at this show....it should be amazing! There are still a very limited number of tickets available if you would like to attend. Better snatch them up quick though!

Ms. Womack, who has six C.M.A. nominations, is a country-pop star who reinvented herself as a neotraditionalist; her current album, "There's More Where That Came From," is full of elegant weepers. She is to be joined by Shooter Jennings, the rock 'n' roll son of Waylon.

Obviously a lot of the press has never heard Never Again, Again, but this is a nice thing for such a huge paper to say. Is anyone going to this show?

She's baaaaaaack! My laptop returned from the place where expensive toys go to be fixed and seems to be ok. Now I've begun the tedious process of getting things back onto it....5,000+ songs, programs, work related documents, thousands of photos....you get the idea.

A True, Country Music Emergency

I knew it was going to happen at some point, but when? All of us in the office has identical laptops and carry them around like a third arm. I had even entertained the idea of getting some sort of holster made for my pants so that I could wear it like a six shooter. So when my laptop fell off a desk yesterday and crashed to the floor (hardwood floor at that), I should've seen it coming. Now, I feel like a lost little girl wandering through the forest. The very nice guys at the Apple store are telling me it is prognosis negative, but I'm going in again to get the final word. Worst part about it is? My life is on that computer. For those of you who spend a good deal of your day at the computer, think of the information that is on it. If they can't recover my drive I've lost over a year's worth of emails, databases, over 3,000 photos, hundreds of dollars worth of music, and other various work related files.

Moral of the story? Back your files up. I kept telling myself I needed to, and never did. Lesson learned the hard way. I feel like I've lost my best friend in the world. She was the smartest kid in school....always had the right answers for me when I needed them and rarely gave me attitude. Never has there been a truer country music emergency.

-The League of American Theatres and Producers and the Country Music Association have released a limited amount of tickets to Broadway Meets Country. Lee Ann is co-hosting the event with Brian Stokes Mitchell and will also be doing a Broadway number. Also included on the bill are Broadway’s Jason Danieley, Reneé Elise Goldsberry, Marin Mazzie, Andrea McArdle, Idina Menzel, Donna Murphy, James Naughton, Marian Seldes, Ben Vereen and Patrick Wilson, along with country music’s Trace Adkins, Glen Campbell, Billy Currington, Raul Malo, Richie McDonald, Jamie O’Neal, Julie Roberts, Carrie Underwood and Trisha Yearwood. I just put a new diary entry up and I love this one! I knew I had got Aubrie hooked on my current favorite tv show (and probably top 5 ever) but I had no idea the LAW was into it too. Funny. If you aren't watching this show, you should be. This season (already in its 6th) is a bit slow, but is picking up. 4 Weeks And 1 Video Shoot Ago

The moment is almost here....the video for 20 Years And 2 Husbands Ago is set to debut on CMT sometime next week. "Sometime next week!!," you say, "Dang you Alison! Be a little more vauge!". Sorry folks. :) That's all the info they'll let me have. Whenever I get an exact debut day and time, you guys will be the first to know. Just think that in the next 7 to 8 days you'll have seen seen the video! I've actually already seen it, and you guys will *not* be dissapointed. Trust me, it is worth the wait.

I hate to deviate from the LAW, but I have to address the Astros going to the world series! In fact, LAW addressed it too. I'm not even sure if she knew baseball was still going on, but I was talking to her about work after the game and she is pretty fired up for me, the city of Houston and the state of Texas. Her husband, Frank, is also a native Houstonian and I'm sure is pretty fired up himself. I've been waiting for this day for 20+ years, so it is pretty thrilling. Go 'Stros!

The Show Must Go On!!

There are a few great new shows that have been added to the schedule for fall/winter. The biggest, in my opinion anyway, is a show at New York City's famous Bowery Ballroom with the one and only Shooter Jennings on November 14. Tickets are still available and there will be plenty of room at the meet and greet at the show for fan club members. If you are going to be in NYC for the CMA's or would just like to go into the city and take in a great show, it promises to be a heck of an evening! I've been to the Bowery Ballroom many times and it is a great place to see a show.

For those of you in the Vegas area, or anyone looking for the perfect winter vacation, LAW has two shows at the Mirage hotel December 9 and 10. Tickets can be purchased through the Mirage.

There are still tickets available to this year's CMA Awards for those who would like to attend. Lee Ann will be performing on this year's show and coupled with the show the night before at the Bowery, it would make for a great trip to New York City.

Flowers In the Window

Dolly Parton's new duets album, Those Were the Days, includes a duet with Lee Ann and Norah Jones and will be in stores this Tuesday. Other artists on the album include Joe Nichols, Cat Stevens, Nickel Creek, LAW favorite Mindy Smith, Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski, and Porter Wagoner. Lee Ann, Norah and Dolly harmonize beautifully on the old Peter, Paul and Mary song Where Have All the Flowers Gone. Be sure to pick up a copy at your favorite record store or at iTunes on Tuesday. The song is great, but seeing how it is Dolly and the LAW, how could it not be?

I'm heading for the hills this weekend, literally, for a nice relaxing weekend of camping and white water rafting on the Ocoee River. Enjoy the weekend everyone! Fall has arrived!

Almost Famous

There's a great interview with LAW on RollingStone.Com. A different approach in interview styles than we've seen in the past, and it turned out to be a very candid chat. I love that she threw Nelly's Country Grammar in there. That was a popular one in Camp LAW back in the day. Even a two year old Anna would get in on the act and "raise the roof".

And for those of you who wonder what we bop around on the bus to, you might want to download Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls. I don't know if I agree with the LAW that it would make a good country song, but it is fun to dance around to.

iTunes Tutorial

I know there has been some confusion as far as iTunes goes, so I thought I'd give a little iTunes tutorial (with picures!) to help those out who have never used it and aren't familiar. It is very easy to obtain iTunes, all you need to do is go to apple.com/itunes and follow the prompts to download it. Once you get it installed, it is VERY easy to use. When you get it up and running, with music, it'll look like this...

On the left is playlists I have set up, the artwork of the music I am listening to at the moment (which you can also print out to look like a cd cover), an area for all my podcasts, and a link to the iTMS. On the right is my library of music, which can be organized any way you want, just by clicking on the tabs above (artist, album, song, etc).
Just click on "Music Store" on the left and you can access the iTunes Music Store (or iTMS for short).

Once you are inside the iTMS, you can browse and buy til your hearts content. It is also very easy to create an iTunes account. All you need is a credit card, even a debit card will work (that is what I use to pay for my account). Once you have an account set up, all you need to do is click "download" when you find a song that you want to purchace, and iTunes will automatically download that song (or album) for you.

As you can see above, you can either download by the song, or by the album. Sometimes if it is a special package, you'll have to buy the album to get some of the content and the song will be labled "album only".

Another misconception about buying songs from iTunes is that you need an iPod to listen to the songs you buy away from your computer which isn't true. You are able to burn songs you buy onto a cd that is playable in any cd player. I believe you can burn an album in the same sequence up to 10 times.

Well, I'm back from a whirlwind vacation down to Austin for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Even though I am beyond wiped, I feel revived after seeing so much great music from a slew of bands....Spoon, Keane, The Frames, The Fiery Furnaces, The Walkmen, Bloc Party, Jet, Death Cab For Cutie, Robert Randolph, Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Doves, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, Franz Ferdinand, Jack Ingram, Wilco, Dierks Bently and Coldplay. Jack, Wilco and Dierks were holding it down for country in the crowd and did it well.

Lee Ann recently sat down with the iTunes Originals crew here in a Nashville studio to talk about her career and record 6 original versions of some of her hit songs. Past artists that have done an iTunes Originals session include Alanis Morissette, Sting, Ben Folds, R.E.M., Moby and the Black Eyed Peas, with Lee Ann being the first country artist included in the series. Original songs recorded for the session include Never Again, Again, I May Hate Myself In the Morning, I'll Think Of A Reason Later, I Hope You Dance, The Fool and the Patsy Cline classic, She's Got You. Lee Ann introduces each song, and spends some time giving some history behind the song and her thoughts in general. I have a lot of things to talk about today, but I wanted to get something out of the way first. Last night when I finally tracked Lee Ann down to tell her congrats (around midnight! she never stops!), she congratulated me as well, saying that the nominations are as much mine as they are her's. If anything shows what a great person the LAW is, that certainly does. Nice, eh?

Ok, let's get down to business. Since there is so much going on, I'm going to bullet this out. You know how much I like it!

-The press release I put excerpts up on here yesterday has run at just about every major online entertainment portal. I'm even getting IMs from friends in LA who say they came across it every 5 seconds. Great to see all the exposure!

-This year for the first time ever, fans will be able to purchase tickets to the CMA's. Tickets are $250 a piece, and are available through Ticketmaster starting September 17. There will be other various activities going on that week so if you've always wanted to visit NYC, this would be the week to go and take it all in. And take it from me (a former NYC resident!), you'll have a blast.

-The CMT 100 Greatest Duets show will air on September 17. I can't say yet who LAW sings with or what she sings, but she does sing 2 songs. Tease, I know! I've also got a great prize to give away from the show. Stay tuned for details.

-LAW wrote a diary entry last night while we were talking, and it is posted now. Sounds like even though she isn't feeling 100%, she's still having a good time. I'm picturing her and Aubrie on the front row at a fashion show, and laughing out loud.

Well, it has been quite the busy morning here in Camp LAW. A quarter til 2 and I'm just now catching my breath from it all. I have spoken with a few folks from the camp who are with Lee Ann and they said that while she is feeling under the weather, she's a trooper and is giving many interviews throughout the day. I'll keep you posted where she pops up. For now, the standard press release is circulating the web and the more important parts read as follows....

Brad Paisley and Lee Ann Womack led the nominees for the Country Music Association Awards Wednesday, snaring six apiece, including single of the year for their hits "Alcohol" and "I May Hate Myself in the Morning." Womack, who returned to her country roots with the retro album, "There's More Where That Came From," was on hand to announce the nominations along with Urban in New York, where the awards will be presented for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Madison Square Garden. Womack was nominated for single and music video of the year for "I May Hate Myself in the Morning," album of the year, female vocalist of the year, and also got two nominations for musical event of the year for her duets with George Strait and Willie Nelson. Urban joked about Womack's many nominations. "You were not available for this one, apparently," the singer said as he read the nominees for vocal group of the year.

Also announced today was a concert benefiting the American Red Cross featuring Lee Ann and various other country artists pairing up with some of Broadway's greats during CMA Week in NYC. Full story can be found here. Sounds like it is going to be an amazing night!

9:40 CT - Brian Mansfield and Robert Ormann are weighing in on the nominations. According to Brian, Lee Ann's 6 nominations is the most by a woman since Faith Hill in 2000. Read that sentence again, and marvel with me.

9:35 CT - Katie just interviewed Sugarland and went to commercial. After the break, they are going to be interviewing a few "music insiders" (funny, they didn't ask me....). Will be interesting to see what they say about the LAW. 6 nominations though! Wow!

CMT will televise the announcement of the final nominees for the 2005 CMA Awards live on Wednesday (Sept. 7) at 10:15 a.m. ET during a special edition of CMT Insider. Keith Urban and Lee Ann Womack will reveal the final nominees in all 12 categories during a press conference at Time Warner Center in New York City. CMT's Lance Smith will cover the event live from New York City while CMT's Katie Cook will be joined in Nashville by one of country's hottest new bands, Sugarland. The announcement will air exclusively on CMT. The 39th annual CMA Awards will be broadcast live from New York City's Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15 on CBS.

I'm going to do my best to live blog the announcements tomorrow for those who aren't able to tune in. Here's to hoping Lee Ann calls her name out many times!

Lee Ann's performance of "He Oughta Know That By Now" on the Ellen Degeneres show is re-airing today. Check the local listings for showtimes in your area.

Katrina picked up speed right as it got to our area and pushed on through pretty quickly. There are still trees down all over the place (including a few in LAW's neighborhood) but we didn't get the foot of rain or prolonged winds that were expected. Hope each and every one of you are safe and sound.

Sadly, we have yet to see the storm and I fear there might be quite a rude awakening for those of us in middle Tennessee about 3am. In the forecast is 60+mph winds, tornados and a foot of rain. A big happy birthday goes out to the boss today! I busted my cellphone yesterday trying to carry way too many things into the house, so a new one is on order and I have no way to send a happy birthday text message. Happy birthday email it is. I also put together some HILARIOUS artwork for her birthday cake, and I'm hoping someone will take a picture of it for the website. Picture cakes...seriously, what will they come up with next. I hope they let the LAW eat her own head. Heh.

Where the heck have I been? Even I don't know. I got hired to do a big 2 month freelance project which has been consuming all non LAW hours (the few of them that there are ;)). I also have a new TV obsession....The Gilmore Girls. Aaaak! Great show! Highly recommended.

Hmmm....there's a point here, I think. I've got a new diary entry up for those who haven't read it. The Toby tour is winding down...just 6 shows left to go. I brought this to Lee Ann's attention today, so hopefully she'll write a few more diary entries before the end of the run. Also, don't forget LAW's birthday on Friday! Man, what a lazy Friday. I've been a lazy poster, and the folks at Yahoo! (good natured ribbing since I have a friend who works there) are lazy coders. More about that in a minute though. Sorry for not posting much this week...it was crazy getting everyone ready for the longest run of the tour, and I fell a bit behind. The whole camp is now out in California playing shows, so if you are in the area, be sure to snatch up some tickets and head over there.

The LAW along with Keith Urban will be announcing the final nominees for the 2005 CMA's on September 7 in New York City. Fingers crossed that LAW calls out her own name more than a few times!

If you'd like to see some exclusive videos (and are on a PC), head on over to Yahoo!'s SBC Blue Room for some interviews with LAW. ....to talk for 2 minutes about one of my favorite bands. One of my favorite things about music, and working in music, is turning folks onto different music. I've spent WAY too much time in my life making mixed cds and mixed playlists for folks. Anyway, one of my favorite bands in the world is a band called Sigur Ros and they are from Iceland (like Bjork). Up until recently they were actually a labelmate of the LAW's (it all ties together somehow doesn't it?!) but were moved to Geffen Records after the pop branch of MCA folded into Universal. They are a super tough band to get into....the first time I heard them I thought it was the worst drivel I'd ever listened to. Now, I can only describe listening to their music as something of a spiritual experience. It's also the only time I've cried while watching a music video (the video for "Untitled 1" won MTV Europe's Video Of the Year two years ago). If you want to be adventurous in your music listening, give them a shot. I would recommend the ( ) album. The album has no name, the songs have no names (at least officially) and the lead singer sings in his own made up language. The artwork also came completely blank, leaving you the listener to come up with your own words, your own song titles and your own album title to whatever the music moved you to do. My favorite part about the album? The 30 second silence after Track 4 which pays homage to the days where you'd listen to vinyl and have to flip the record over to side b. The first "side" of the album is more mellow and then they crank thing up another notch on the second half. Enough gushing though eh? Thanks for letting me rave on about them a little bit, and if any of you happen to like it, I'd love to know.

Since I'm on an iTunes linking rampage, have any of you heard Lee Ann's duet with Willie called "I'll Never Be Free"? If not, check it out here. I never hear people mention it, so I thought I would. It's a great little honky tonk song. But then again, that's what Texans do best! From Iceland to Texas, music is the one universal thing that brings us all together. And there's nothing better.

Keith should take his cue from Lee Ann Womack, a country star who has recovered from her own compromises with cliches to release one of the best honky-tonk albums of the decade, "There's More Where That Came From." Womack, too, has misused one of the great country voices of our time, but on her new album she rescues a neglected country subgenre, the cheating song, and in mining its veins of guilt and pleasure rescues her own career as well.

Womack is the rare singer who can capture paradox in a four-minute single. She can confess a lingering lust for an ex-husband and at the same time acknowledge that "I May Hate Myself in the Morning." She can describe a husband confessing an affair over the kitchen sink and convey the subtle notion that his apology is too "Painless" to be believed. She can pray for God to "get this cheating off my mind" on the title track, but when she gets that inevitable phone call from her lover, she realizes her conscience is no match for her desire.

So in LAW's latest diary entry, she claims that Shooter recommended Team America, World Police to her. I beg to differ LAW! Remember a little outing for my birthday this year (and if you haven't read LAW's diary account of my birthday last year, let's just say a certain country music superstar got carded, forgot her ID at home and wasn't allowed inside!) and I was going on and on to you about how much you should watch it? Oh how soon we forget! Maybe I need to change my name to "Shooter" and then you'll listen? I kid, I kid. I guess she must have "thrown down" one too many times and forgot. As much as I "threw down" the night of my birthday, I'm surprised I remember that little tidbit.

Speaking of Shooter, do we have any Happy Gilmore fans out there? I keep telling people that as soon as I go out on the road and start to "throw down", my favorite phrase is going to be, "THIS IS SHOOTER'S TOUR!" It's only a matter of time, really. Just a heads up folks.

It might be time to get really creative on how to let the world know how great LAW and He Oughta Know That By Now is. Any ideas?

First off, I want to send my condolences to those in London who were affected by the terrorist attacks today. I've been there many times, have friends there and hope everyone is ok. As someone who was living in NYC during 9/11, I can imagine that Londoners are having a hard time grasping what happened today. Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers.

Once again, my inbox skyrockets into the triple digits. Maybe I need to attend some sort of inbox support group. Here's the method to my madness...since I have my fingers in so many cookie jars, my inbox is about the only unified thing I have to remind me of all of the things I have to do. A running to do list if you will. The problem is, I have a bad habit of not deleting emails after I've done a task. I'm an email packrat! I know I have some emails from a few of you, and I'm going to get to them today (hopefully!). If you don't get a prompt response from me on emails, that doesn't mean I'm not going to answer. You guys are my top priority....always remember that!

I hope all of you out there had a safe and happy holiday weekend. I had a very busy weekend at home in Houston (aren't vacations supposed to be relaxing?!!) where we dashed around from function to function so much so that I'm only operating on 3 hours sleep today. If only it hadn't taken 2 hours to drive home from the fireworks show last night...
