Play Ball!

Part of the "blogosphere" is about creating a community based on like minded folk. Now, you guys are all here because you love Lee Ann. But what else makes you tick? In an effort to really make our little corner of the web a friendly place to be, leave a comment and tell folks a little about yourself. You never know what could happen....you could find you share something in common (besides the LAW!) with someone else and make a new friend! Maybe even someone in your area, someone to go to LAW shows with, etc.

I'll get the ball rolling. What makes me tick....well this time of year, my life revolves around two things....work and baseball. I'm a *diehard* Houston Astros fan. So the new season is dominating my life at the moment. That and music by a band called the French Kicks. Love them.

Now it's your turn! Ready.....go!

OK..

I'm a huge fan of George Strait (he's #1 to me) and I love Shania Twain's music alot too. I'm a big 007 fan too, I've seen every movie and know alot about that. Favorite shows are Seinfeld, the Simpsons, etc. I love making websites for my fav artists, I have made one ofr Lee Ann, George, Shania, and Brooks & Dunn so far (that'll probably be it too b/c up-dating the site takes time). O yeah, I'm only 17 (male).

Alright, this is who Smartin271 is, take it or leave it. :-)

Graduate of Univ. of MI where I met my wife of 15+ years (learning about FASB's, believe it or not; and now catching up with the SOx). We have two boys, ages 12 and 9. I've coached both of them in little league and will again this year. I've also been both of their scout leaders and will be so in the future if they decide to keep it going.

Although being born in Missouri, the family moved to Michigan before I was young so I'm definitely a Michigander (a phrase coined for us by Abraham Lincoln).

Looooooove the Tigers and Lions and Wolverines (coolest helmets in the nation, thankyouverymuch), but have been a bigger fan of the Red Wings and Pistons lately because of their recent successes (some call it fair-weather fanism, but I call it positive reinforcement). ;-)

Being from here I work in the auto industry and grew up with Motown, Mitch Ryder, Bob Segar, and Ted Nugent. Did some touring of the eastern half of the country on my own in the early '80's as a drum and bugle corps drummer, so hopefully I have a little deeper broad-based musical appreciation than some. Tom Hulce (Amadeus in the movie) was an actor who graduated from my school a few years before I did so naturally spent some time with Mozart and other classical talent too. The Planets by Holst rocks!

Became a LAW listener after I heard the bass guitar in Little Past Little Rock, the sassiness in Think of a Reason Later, then the awesomeness of I Hope You Dance. Not sure why I didn't do SWLB but loved the title song and the Wrong Girl but just never heard them much and I wasn't involved then. Last year, however, I picked up her Christmas Album and got hooked. Since then I bought her greatest hits and new album and I will never go back. After meeting her last night and seeing that the lady is genuine and so down to earth it could make you cry, I'm hooked for life. :-)

I'll have more on her concert last night later.

I love her country stuff too; I really do. The title song and man with the bag are also great. Having some familiarity with big bands and HC Jr. I love the duet on Baby It's Cold Outside. Frankly, my wife hates it for some reason but I think it sounds closer to what it's supposed to sound like than any other rendition I've heard. She nails the passion of it, whoa!

Keep crackin' (or should I say McCracken) on the text book. I am in major awe. ;-) I hope you had the same accounting texts that I had and got the joke. If not, I'll just go away embarrassed. lol

I currently design websites for companies.

You can learn a little bit more about me (and see some pictures of me) on my website at http://www.dustinsoper.com/

That's it for now.

Good topic, Alison!

It's nice to meet everyone and I found it very interesting to read about all that shared their story. :-)

I guess now that everyone is really participating, I should tell more about myself! If you couldn't tell from previous posts, or my obsession with the Astros, I'm from Houston. When I graduated high school, I moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University. When I was going to school at Belmont, I started working for Lee Ann and have been here ever since! Minus a year and a half detour I took in 2001 to live in NYC.

I love baseball (obviously!), all things Apple, having friends over to enjoy mild nights in the backyard, this sort of post 80's new wave movement, good country and alt-country, steel guitar, playing guitar and drums badly, and making people laugh.

Keep going! I'm enjoying reading about everyone!

Alison, with all your guitar experiences, what's your opinion of Junior Brown? I swear that all the radio stations these days are cheating us out of the real "artists."

Oh, I remember Brad Ausmus from his days with the Tigers and hard nosed and scrappy. Gotta love that in a ballplayer.
